Next Act Volunteers have many opportunities to choose from. They provide ushering service for all Next Act productions, as well as for season performances by Renaissance Theaterworks and presentations by other groups who rent the performance space at 255 S. Water Street.
Both Next Act Theatre and Renaissance Theaterworks have COVID-19 safety policies in place. Ushers, staff and audience members are all required to abide by these policies. Before agreeing to usher, we recommend you review the Next Act safety policies and Renaissance safety policies to confirm your comfort with our requirements.
An annual end-of-season celebration and fundraising event which brings together Next Act supporters, artists and board members to recount the successes of the current season and anticipate the highlights of the next. The party is replete with lots of opportunities to win unique gift packages at our silent auction; an exciting live auction, delicious hors d’oeuvre and a full cash bar! Proceeds from this event go directly toward support of our artistic and educational programming.
The UPAF Ride for the Arts is Wisconsin’s largest one-day recreational bike ride. Event proceeds ensure the 14 Member Groups can focus their time on what they do best – creating, performing, educating and inspiring.
Next Act holds general auditions for actors each year in cooperation with many other professional Wisconsin theatre companies. These auditions usually take place in early February; a specific date is chosen in December. Next Act casts its shows from these auditions, and by callbacks and readings with each show’s director.

Next Act Theatre is seeking a new Artistic Director. The new Artistic Director will be charged with embracing NAT’s mission, leading the company with clear vision and transparent methods intended to continue and enhance that mission.

Next Act Theatre is seeking a new Education Manager. The Education Manager leads and manages all aspects of Next Act Theatre’s educational programming, including student matinees, Next Actors: Summer Theatre for Teens, the Community Youth Project and all in-school education. The Education Manager reports to the Producing Artistic Director and collaborates with the entire NAT staff. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling for twenty (20) hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience. Available 8/1/2022 or when position is filled.
