Assistive Listening
Next Act Theatre features an Induction Loop listening system designed to improve the listening experience for patrons who have hearing aids, as well as for those who rely upon conventional sound augmentation. The Induction Loop system can be used in one of two ways, depending on whether you use a hearing aid with a T-coil or not.
If you have a hearing aid with a T-coil:
Simply set your hearing device to the Loop setting and enjoy the show.
If you do not have a hearing aid with a T-coil or do not use hearing aids:
Check out a receiver and headphone set from our Accessibility Cart by speaking with the House Manager. The House Manager can instruct you on its use, but here are some simple instructions:
Like a transistor radio, the small box has an off-on and volume knob; turn on and adjust for your comfort level. You will need to be in the seats to receive the Loop signal.
The box works directionally; that is, it matters which way it is pointing.
- In most of our seating, the box works best when held up straight, with the volume knob on top, and the flat back pointing toward the stage.
- In the front rows, you will get the strongest signal with the box laying flat on your leg, with the flat back pointing straight to the floor.
Our Induction Loop listening system was a gift from longtime supporter Milan Racic, honoring his beloved late wife Gordana. Special thanks are also due to Nancy Einhorn for her advocacy and support of this project.
Closed/Open Captioning
Next Act Theatre is pleased to announce that, new in the 2026-27 season, a select number of personal closed captioning devices are available for every performance. These closed captioning devices are available for checkout from our lobby Accessibility Cart and will provide personal captioning services for individuals during the show. Please see the House Manager to check out a captioning device.
In addition, you can join us on the second Wednesday evening of each production for an Open Captioned performance—captions will be provided for all audience members at these performances.
Sign Language Interpretation
New in the 2026-27 season, we will offer an American Sign Language interpreted performance on the third Thursday of each show. For details on where to sit for optimal viewing of our interpreters, please call the Ticket Office at (414) 278-0765.
Audio Description and Touch Tours
On the third Friday of each show, Next Act will offer both Audio Description and Touch Tours. We are excited to present these options for the first time during the 2026-27 season.
Join us 60 minutes before the performance (prior to our house opening for seating) for a Touch Tour. These tours will give visually-impaired audience members an opportunity to touch major pieces of scenery, props and costumes in order to more richly visualize the world of the play.
Then, during the play, we are pleased to provide Audio Description of the action of the play through personal listening devices that can be checked out from our lobby Accessibility Cart. Please see the House Manager to check out a listening device.
