Take an insider’s look at Next Act’s final production of the 30th season, 9 CIRCLES by Bill Cain. Next Act and Feast of Crispian (a Milwaukee-based theatre company whose work combines Shakespeare with veterans) are teaming up for two evenings of preview readings, expert insight and open discussion of the many fascinating and timely issues presented in 9 CIRCLES.
An American soldier is honorably discharged but later accused of a war crime in Iraq. He must navigate an onslaught of commanding officers, public defenders, lawyers, preachers and psychiatrists who seek answers, excuses or culpability.
Actors will read selected scenes from 9 CIRCLES, generating candid observations and feedback from military veterans and members of Feast of Crispian. The circle then expands to include the audience for a frank and open community conversation. The first session will focus on legal aspects with special guest Guy Temple, a former military lawyer. The second session will focus on the soldier’s point of view with Marine Mark Ard.
Join us for what promises to be a deeply moving exchange of insight and experience, in anticipation of Bill Cain’s courageous play about some of today’s most pressing concerns.
Hosted by David Cecsarini (Producing Artistic Director of Next Act Theatre) and James Tasse (Co-Founder & Director of Feast of Crispian).
