An All-Student Production
Engaging young people in our community is a strongly held value at Next Act Theatre. One play from each season serves as inspiration for our Community Youth Project that unites students and community members in the creative process of theatre. This year's project, Milwaukee Minds, draws from Sharr White's play, THE OTHER PLACE, and focuses on memory.
Over the course of 10 weeks, instructed by professional actor and teaching artist Marti Gobel, students hear from guest lecturers, connect with members of their community, and conduct their own research and interviews. Exploring a variety of movement and storytelling techniques, students will create their very own original performance art pieces, integrating their experience of the play with their observations.
This year, you can see the work of students from Bradley Tech High School, Milwaukee High School of the Arts, and Ronald Reagan IB High School on the Next Act stage in a performance that explores memory and how serious illness can shape relationships between family, friends and caregivers.
