Next Actors: Summer Theatre for Teens
Next Actors is a six-week playwriting and performance program offered free of charge to a select group of Milwaukee area teens. Hopeful students audition to join a cast carefully chosen to include talent from as many different cultural, ethnic, racial and economic backgrounds as possible. Guided by professional teaching artists, Next Actors write and create their own original theatre piece, performing at venues across the metro area.
Auditions for the 2017 Next Actors program will be held Tuesday, April 25, from 5 pm to 8 pm and Saturday, April 29, from 9 am to 2 pm. To sign up for an audition time call 414-278-7780 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year’s program will take place June 12 through July 22, 2017. The first three weeks consist of improvisation exercises, brainstorming sessions, idea development, movement and music workshops. Weeks four and five are spent writing and rehearsing. During week six, the students will tour their production to area schools, senior centers and community organizations, finishing with a final benefit performance on Saturday, July 22.
This year’s tour will take place the week of July 17. Please continue to check back for any public performances.
