Next Actors: Summer Theatre for Teens
Next Actors is a six-week playwriting and performance program offered free of charge to a select group of Milwaukee area teens. Hopeful students audition to join a cast carefully chosen to include talent from as many different cultural, ethnic, racial and economic backgrounds as possible. Guided by professional teaching artists, Next Actors write and create their own original theatre piece, performing at venues across the metro area.
Auditions for the 2018 Next Actors program are closed. To learn more about the program or to receive updates on the 2019 program, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The 2018 Next Actors program will run June 11 – July 21, 2018. The first three weeks consist of improvisation exercises, brainstorming sessions, idea development, movement and music workshops. Weeks four and five are spent writing and rehearsing. During week six, the students will tour their production to area schools, senior centers and community organizations, finishing with a final benefit performance.
