Stuart Carlson – An Irreverent Retrospective
September 29 - October 23, 2016
Curated by James Toth
Political dysfunction is nothing new, and no one knows that better than our featured artist, Milwaukee’s own award-winning political cartoonist, Stuart Carlson. Nothing sharpens our focus on current events quite like a well-crafted cartoon and whether it is lampooning political parties, taking our leaders to task, or exposing our own societal inconsistencies, Carlson’s work is among the best.
He has won numerous accolades, including being named the nation’s top cartoonist by the National Press Foundation in 1991. He won the Fischetti Award in 1995 and numerous Milwaukee Press Club awards. He has also won recognition from the Overseas Press Club and the National Headliner competitions.
Next Act is proud to feature an exclusive look back at the political events of the past 33 years, from the often controversial but always insightful perspective of a Milwaukee treasure, Stuart Carlson.
