“What if imagination and art are not frosting at all, but the fountainhead of human experience?” – Rollo May
At Pius XI Catholic High School, the arts will never simply be “frosting.” They are seen as powerful tools in the search for self-realization. The Art Department is grounded in the belief that for knowledge to become more than superficial it must come from within. Art never comes from anywhere else. The art program includes instruction on technique and aesthetics, to be sure, but the goal is to develop questioning, caring, articulate and ethical people.
The quality of instruction by the art faculty has been recognized by five invitations to the White House since 1995. Portfolio students are prepared to compete for admission and scholarships to the finest art colleges and universities in the country and abroad. They have won numerous awards and received national and international recognition for their work. Pius alumni are influencing their communities across the country as architects, web designers, animators, software engineers, teachers, set designers, illustrators, fashion designers, art directors, creative directors, special effects artists, and the list goes on and on…
Go study with Pius, they don’t believe in starving artists.
The art exhibit opens Thursday, April 5, and is open to the public Monday through Friday, noon to 5 pm, and through the start of any performance.
