May N'Kame is the mother of a brutal African dictator. She travels to England to undergo delicate eye surgery from Dr. Cora Gage, preeminent in her field. Dr. Gage seizes the opportunity to ask that May's ruthless son release four physicians, condemned as traitors for refusing to assist in government torture. However, May demands a shocking favor in return, which challenges Dr. Gage's deepest beliefs. For both to achieve a greater good, each woman must somehow break free from preconceived values to embrace the other's world.
